This is a numeric code relating to the histology of the tumour, provided by the cancer registry. It should be interpreted in combination with
Field 40012 (tumour behaviour code); together these comprise the ICD-O-3 morphology code.
Previously an encoding was derived for histology codes; however given that these must be interpreted alongside the behaviour codes and standard definitions are not available for all combinations, the Showcase encoding has been deprecated. Please refer to
