About
Our project is focused on unraveling the complex genetic and environmental or life factors that contribute to cardiovascular diseases (CVD), with a particular emphasis on atherosclerosis-a major cause of heart attacks and strokes. By leveraging the rich and extensive data available in the UK Biobank, which includes detailed genetic profiles and health records, we aim to pinpoint specific molecular mechanisms that play a crucial role in the development of CVD. Additionally, our study will explore the connections between CVD and other health conditions, investigating shared genetic links and potential underlying causes. To achieve this, we will employ certain genetic analysis methods, such as genome-wide association studies (GWAS) and Mendelian randomization. The insights gained from our research have the potential to transform our understanding of heart disease. This could lead to more effective prevention strategies, improved methods for predicting risk, and the development of innovative treatments, ultimately making a significant difference in public health and the management of cardiovascular health.1 Publication
