Abstract
Our analysis of UK Biobank data indicates that individuals who use sunscreen have higher vitamin D levels than those who do not, while complete sun avoidance is associated with the lowest levels. These findings suggest that, in real-world conditions, sunscreen reduces but does not abolish cutaneous vitamin D synthesis, and that geographic and behavioural factors modulate this relationship.</p>
