About
Chronic non-communicable diseases, such as cancer, cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases, chronic respiratory diseases, mental and nervous system diseases, etc., have caused a considerable burden worldwide. Previous studies have reported some potential risk factors for chronic diseases. However, how other factors and their interactions impact the development of chronic diseases remains to be explored. UK Biobank is a large prospective natural population cohort containing high quality individual data and extensive information. We propose to leverage the UK Biobank to explore the individual and combined effects of genetics, socioeconomic status, lifestyle, environmental exposure, clinical features on chronic noncommunicable diseases. In addition, risk prediction biomarkers for specific chronic noncommunicable diseases will be identified. The duration of this project is expected to last 36 months. This study will help clarify the relationship between various risk factors and chronic non-communicable diseases and identify high-risk individuals, which has important public health implications for the precise prevention and management of chronic non-communicable diseases.2 Publications
