Abstract
There is a lack of research into links between chronic, multisite pain, and mood disorder. We looked at around 150 thousand participants with relevant data. We found that people with bipolar disorder and major depressive disorder had around 5% increased prevalence of multisite pain across the body. This suggests that people who report chronic pain and pain in multiple sites, are at higher risk for bipolar disorder.
