About
Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD) is a group of disorders that causes sections of the gastrointestinal tract to become severely inflamed and ulcerated. In the absence of a cure, the lifelong conditions and the goal of therapy is to reduce flares of disease and the complications from long-term inflammation. Some recent studies pointed out the higher risk of some chronic diseases in IBD patients like cardiovascular disease and dementia compared with non-IBD people. To systematically investigate the comorbidities and long-term outcomes of IBD patients, we will complete this project within 36 months after all data have been obtained. This proposed project forms a collaborative project led by a multidisciplinary team of researchers with expertise in epidemiology, clinical medicine, and global health. With this project, we aim to provide evidence useful for developing better management of inflammatory bowel disease patients.16 Publications
