Notes
To gain an estimate of within-individual variation in leucocyte telomere length, paired measurements were made for 1351 UK Biobank participants for whom two separate DNA samples were available (taken at a mean difference of 5.5 years apart). These samples were taken from the baseline visit and one follow-up visit. As these measurements were performed in pairs (under the same technical conditions and parameters), no further technical adjustments were necessary. These measurements may not correspond to those for the same individuals within the main datasets (
Field 22190,
Field 22191,
Field 22192) due to re-plating and re-measurement of the sample to produce the paired measurements for this specific analysis. For this reason, these data should be used independently of the main datasets and not in combination. Full details of this experiment can be found in Codd, V. et al (
https://doi.org/10.1101/2021.03.18.21253457), and exemplar use of the derived regression dilution ratio can be found in Codd V et al (
https://doi.org/10.1101/2021.03.23.21253516).
Researchers wishing to correct for regression dilution bias should use a correction factor of 0.65 for Field 22191 and a correction factor of 0.68 for Field 22192.
